Joey's BUG Birthday Party

For Joey's Party we decided to invite our old neighbors and friends. We had the Caldwells who lived above us for a while and the Pearsons who lived above us after that. And of course our friend Ethan who we would play with every Monday and Thursday. We had a great time! We started with coloring bug pictures while we waited for everyone to arrive and then went on a Bug Hunt. I hid CREEPY bugs all over the family room while the kids were coloring and then set them loose...the bugs they found they got to take home with them. Lucky moms. After that we experimented with some other bugs I had purchased that did different things. The boys loved it! Next on the list of activities was bug squashing...I gave each child a balloon to "squash", but turns out that most didn't like the pooping noise or didn't weigh enough to do so. The oldest boy there, Dillon, took care of it for those that wanted thier "bug" squashed, while the little ones covered theirs ears. We quickly moved onto something more delicious and fun...we played "Don't Eat Pete" with a bug board. All the kids loved eating the M&Ms. Poor Joey picked Pete on his first try so he only got one. I felt bad so after everyone had, had a turn I gave all the kids a few more. Then of course we went onto cake and singing "Happy Birthday". But when trying to dig in to their cupcakes, all of the kids decided they didn't want the coconut on them....I had been worried about that and pulled out the backup cocconut-free frosted cupcakes. I was so glad I had decided to do so. Whew! A disaster dodged. Finally, it was time for everyone to go home and they all got their own pair of cool sunglasses.
